I'm one of those people who goes through different phases. I get hooked on a certain hobby/baked good/movie/music band. These phases last for various amounts of time depending on....well...a bunch of things. However, sometimes the "phases" stick and they become an permanent favorite. So for those of you who don't already know I have been in an Owl City phase for quite some time now...in fact, I think you could say it's become one of those permanent favorites. FYI, Owl City is a band made up of one guy named Adam Young. I'm not exactly sure how to describe what kind of music it is, but a friend of mine called it, Happy Techno. iTunes puts it in the electronic genre, but regardless of what ya wanna call it...I LOVE IT!!!!!! Now it is true that a lot of the songs don't really make sense and some of the lyrics are so insanely random that you wonder where this guy comes up with this stuff, but it's sooooooo awesome!!! If you are intersted in expanding your musical horizons, you should go check out www.owlcity.com. He has a couple of songs on there that you can listen to for free. Here are some lyrics to one of his songs, just to give you an idea.
Vanilla Twilight
The stars lean down to kiss you
And I lie awake and miss you
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere
'Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly
But I'll miss your arms around me
I'd send a postcard to you, dear
'Cause I wish you were here
I'll watch the night turn light-blue
But it's not the same without you
Because it takes two to whisper quietly
The silence isn't so bad
'Til I look at my hands and feel sad
'Cause the spaces between my fingers
Are right where yours fit perfectly
I'll find repose in new ways
Though I haven't slept in two days
'Cause cold nostalgia
Chills me to the bone
But drenched in vanilla twilight
I'll sit on the front porch all night
Waist-deep in thought because
When I think of you I don't feel so alone
I don't feel so alone, I don't feel so alone
As many times as I blink
I'll think of you tonight
I'll think of you tonight
When violet eyes get brighter
And heavy wings grow lighter
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again
And I'll forget the world that I knew
But I swear I won't forget you
Oh, if my voice could reach
Back through the past
I'd whisper in your ear
Oh darling, I wish you were here
*(If you are wondering about the title of this post, it has to do with lyrics in a couple of Owl City songs)
